About the package

About 40 km to the east of Cape Town, lying in the shadow of a continuous belt of Cape fold mountains, lies a series of generous valleys known as the Cape Winelands – a collection of historic towns, little hamlets and Cape Dutch farmsteads that provide well-regarded South African wines to the world. These mountains create an incredible scenic backdrop for a myriad vines, but they are also one of the reasons wines do so well here. Their geological compositions provide unique soil conditions that directly effect the character of wine.

Day 1: Arrive Cape Town
On your arrival at Cape Town International Airport, a warm and friendly Thompsons Africa welcome awaits you! Our expert Guest Service Officer is ready to assist and guide you through the airport to your waiting vehicle that will be transporting you to the Spier Hotel in Stellenbosch where you will be spending the night. Spier Hotel
Spier is in the heart of the Stellenbosch winelands, about 20 minutes from Cape Town International Airport. Spier has been around since 1692, making us one of South Africa's oldest wine farms. The estate has a fascinating legacy that the owners take pride in. Focused on art, good farming, and farm-to-table food, today Spier has a modern conscious energy. Everyone on the farm is committed to working towards positive change to the environment and the community. Our 153 rooms are built around 6 courtyards, each with its own pool. All food is fresh from the farm, or sourced locally. It's wholesome, delicious and it pairs beautifully with our awarding-winning wines. The natural flavour of our food speaks for itself - that's what our chefs will tell you. All their dishes are seasonal and simple.

Accommodation: Manor House Boutique Guesthouse.

Day 4: Saronsberg
This morning after a delightful breakfast you will make your way to Saronsberg where you will spend the night.

Upon arrival in Saronsberg enjoy a delightful wine tasting experience before retiring to your hotel for night. Recognising the distinctive terroir and potential of the valley, Saronsberg has joined the mission initially led by Rijk’s Cellar to prove the region’s capacity for producing wines of outstanding quality. Saronsberg consists of two farm portions formerly known as Waveren and Welgegund.
The farm originally formed part of the beautiful and historic Twee Jonge Gezellen (TJG) until it was divided between the two Krone brothers in the 1950s. Waveren and Welgegund, which lie on either side of TJG, were acquired in 2002 and renamed after the commanding mountain whose slopes are home to a portion of their vines: Saronsberg. The two sites are distinctly different in terroir, with broad disparities in altitude, aspect, soil type, wind and rainfall patterns and temperature producing grapes with strongly contrasting characteristics. The immediate construction of a cellar was not part of the initial plan, but a wild fire two months after the acquisition of the farm meant the original strategy of gradually replanting vineyards had to be re-assessed.
Accommodation: Saronsberg Vineyard Cottages

Day 5 - 6: Saronsberg - Franschhoek
This morning after a delightful breakfast you will make your way to Franschhoek where you will spend the next 2 nights. Upon arrival in Franschhoek enjoy a delightful wine tasting experience before retiring to your hotel for night. Enjoy the beautiful town of Franschhoek and sip on the elegance of the world’s best wines.
Accommodation: Le Petit Ferme – Manor House
La Petite Ferme—Franschhoek’s Enduring Treasure. In a town that prides itself on being all things to all people when it comes to matters culinary—and to a lot of other things as well—one of Franschhoek’ s enduring treasures has always been La Petite Ferme.
